Rules Sheet
1. For each round to be counted as an official CLGA round, an official representative of the CLGA must be present, even
if he is not competing.
2. Each round shall be played only after nightfall, and only on the Chapel Lawn.
3. Each player may use only one club and one ball.
a. The club shall be an iron no lower than a 6-iron.
4. The hole shall consist of a soccer ball or a basketball.
a. The hole must be within the Chapel Lawn, and not in any other area outside the sidewalks enclosing the Lawn.
5. The player with the lowest score on the previous hole will kick the ball, signifying a new hole location.
a. In the event of a tie, the honor will go to the player with lower overall score.
6. All groups shall be divided up evenly, with each group consisting of no more than 4 people.
a. Second round groupings will be decided by the scores from the first round (highest scores shall tee off first, and
the leaders shall tee off last).
7. Each shot must be played from “where it lies” (no moving the ball for a better lie or position.
a. Penalty for breach of this rule shall be one stroke.
b. If a sidewalk or any other unmovable rock will impede the swing, the player may take a drop under no penalty, at the
nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.
c. If a player is unable to take a stroke for any reason (called an unplayable), the ball may be dropped under the penalty
of one stroke, at the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.
d. A ball landing in a bush is considered in play and no free relief will be given. A player may drop outside the bush,
under the penalty of one stroke, at the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.
8. Each tournament shall consist of either 2 or 3 rounds, to be determined by the officials before play begins.
a. For a tournament consisting of two rounds, all players will play both rounds.
b. For a tournament consisting of three rounds, all players will play the first and second rounds, and a cut will be made
after the second round (the number of players cut will be determined by the CLGA officials prior to the start of the first
round based on the number of players entered in the tournament).
9. Extremely slow and unduly play may be penalized at the discretion of a CLGA official.
10. Rules questions during tournament play will ultimately answered and decided by CLGA officials only. Their word is
final.
